In April 2013 the Albuquerque Special Collections Library and the Museum of the American Military Family celebrated the Month of the Military Child and Book Week by sending hundreds Flat Stanleys and Flat Stellas across the USA and around the World. These Stanleys and Stellas visited military families, “Brats”, DoDDs teachers and school children…In November (Military Family Month) MAMF and the Special Collections Library shared their adventures with the public in a special exhibit.
Now, Stanley and Stella live at the Museum of the American Military Family in Tijeras, NM. If your child or group is doing a Flat Stanley project–especially with a military theme–we’d love to receive a photo of Stella or Stanley from you! email it to militaryfamilymuseum@comcast.net.
